Tesla FSD Subscriptions Go Live in Germany and Sweden

📌 UPDATE — May 29, 2026

Tesla FSD (Supervised) has received official approval in Estonia, making it the third European country — and third EU member state — to greenlight the system, following Germany and Sweden. The Estonian Transport Administration (Transpordiamet) granted approval by recognizing Tesla's existing Dutch type approval, a mutual recognition pathway that could signal a faster route for other EU countries. Tesla Europe confirmed the news directly, stating that customer rollout will begin soon.

Tesla has switched on Full Self-Driving subscriptions in two of Europe's largest markets. As of May 22, 2026, owners in Germany and Sweden can now activate FSD (Supervised) directly from their Tesla account — no one-time purchase required, because that option no longer exists.

The monthly price is €99, consistent with other European markets where FSD has already launched. Owners who previously purchased Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) qualify for a discounted rate of €49 per month, according to pricing confirmed across earlier European rollouts. The one-time purchase option for FSD was discontinued in Germany on May 21 — the day before this launch — so subscription is now the only path to the feature in these markets.

Both countries have been working toward this moment for months. Germany's federal vehicle authority (KBA) agreed to adopt the provisional EU type approval originally granted by the Dutch RDW, clearing the regulatory path. In Sweden, Tesla received formal approval for its FSD Testing Program in April 2026, following earlier test approvals covering Nacka, Strängnäs, and eventually all state highways. FSD v14, delivered via software update 2026.8.6, is the version rolling out across European fleets — compatible with all Hardware 3 and Hardware 4 vehicles, with HW4 expected to deliver the smoothest experience.

Germany and Sweden are the latest additions to a European rollout that began in the Netherlands on April 10, 2026, and expanded to Lithuania on May 20. The pace is accelerating. If you're a Tesla owner in either country, check your Tesla app now — the subscription toggle should be live.
