Starlink is expanding its aviation footprint again. The satellite internet service has confirmed a new partnership with European ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air, promising passengers fast, reliable connectivity throughout every flight — with rollout set to begin in 2027.

According to confirmed details from both companies, Wizz Air will become the first ultra-low-cost airline in Europe to offer Starlink-powered in-flight internet. The system will be installed progressively across Wizz Air's new-generation aircraft, targeting seamless coverage regardless of route or destination. Passengers can expect high-speed, low-latency connectivity at cruising altitudes above 30,000 feet — capable of handling streaming, not just basic messaging.
The timing is notable. Wizz Air had previously been trialing a low-bandwidth Iridium-based connectivity system on five UK aircraft since March 2026, limited largely to WhatsApp messaging and in-flight entertainment purchases. The Starlink deal is a significant step up in ambition — and positions the airline competitively in a market where passenger expectations around onboard Wi-Fi have shifted considerably. No pricing for the service has been announced yet, and it remains to be seen whether Starlink access will be included in fares or offered as an add-on. That detail will matter a lot to Wizz Air's cost-conscious customer base.
