FAQ
How do I check which software version my Tesla is on?
On the touchscreen, open Controls > Software — the current version is shown at the top. You can also see it in the Tesla mobile app on your vehicle's detail screen.
How do I get Tesla software updates faster?
Keep the car connected to Wi-Fi regularly and set your software update preference to "Advanced" under Controls > Software. Updates roll out in waves, so even with the right settings it can take days to reach your car.
How often does Tesla release software updates?
Typically every few weeks. Major feature releases arrive several times a year, with smaller bug-fix point releases in between. The exact cadence varies by region, model and hardware.
What is the difference between vehicle software and FSD versions?
Vehicle firmware uses year-based numbering (for example 2026.20.6). FSD (Supervised) has its own v-numbering (for example v14.3) and ships bundled inside specific firmware builds, which is why the two version numbers move independently.
