What's in 2026.38

The Supercharger Site Maps feature gives you a real-time bird's-eye view of a station's layout directly on your car's display — open stalls, on-site obstacles, and the physical arrangement of chargers before you pull in. According to teslahubs.com, the 3D version of this feature first launched as a pilot in late 2025 at 18 locations in California and Texas, expanded to over 300 sites by February 2026, and has since grown to cover the vast majority of U.S. locations, with international expansion ongoing. Seeing it land in a dedicated OTA update suggests Tesla is pushing broader in-car enablement to match the app-side rollout that began with Tesla app version 4.61.0 in September 2026.

The Security Improvements entry is listed without additional detail in the early release notes — a common pattern for Tesla's under-the-hood hardening changes. These typically cover vehicle access, key authentication, or network-layer protections and don't require any action from owners.

How to Check for the Update and Use the New Features

The update is in very early rollout as of this writing — one vehicle confirmed in the Netherlands. Tesla staggers OTA deployments over days to weeks, so most owners won't see it immediately. Here's how to position yourself to get it sooner and make the most of it when it arrives.

Step 1 — Check your current version

On your touchscreen, go to Controls > Software. Your current version number is displayed at the top. If you're already on 2026.38, you're set.

Step 2 — Request the update

If an update is available but hasn't installed, you'll see a notification in the Software menu. Tap Install Now to begin, or schedule it for off-peak hours. Make sure your car is connected to Wi-Fi — Tesla OTA updates do not download over LTE.

Step 3 — Find Supercharger Site Maps on your display

Once updated, Site Maps appear automatically when you navigate to a Supercharger destination or tap a Supercharger pin on the map. The layout view loads as you approach the station. No setting to enable — it activates on supported stations. Coverage varies by location; stations that have been 3D-mapped will show the full layout, while others display the standard stall list.

Step 4 — Cross-check with the Tesla app

If you're running Tesla app version 4.61.0 or later on your phone, you already have access to Supercharger Site Maps in the app. The in-car version in 2026.38 brings the same view to your touchscreen without needing to pull out your phone. Both should stay in sync on stall availability.

Step 5 — Nothing to do for Security Improvements

These apply automatically on install. No configuration required. If you use Phone Key or a key card, your existing setup continues to work — this is a background hardening update.
