📌 UPDATE — August 22, 2026

Tesla's Summer Update has moved to a third point release: 2026.26.6.2 is now in its first batch rollout, currently reaching less than 1% of the fleet and expected to be a bug-fix version. This follows 2026.26.6.1, which has already reached approximately 45% of owners with minor fixes. The headline feature of this update family — introduced in 2026.26.6 — is an enhanced Estimated Range display that now factors in battery aging characteristics for more accurate range predictions. The first confirmed install of 2026.26.6.2 was spotted on a 2025 Model Y AWD Long Range in Västra Götaland, Sweden.

Tesla has begun pushing firmware version 2026.26.6.2 to a small slice of the fleet. Tracker data from TeslaFi shows 77 total installs so far, with NotATeslaApp (NATA) logging 2 — meaning this is still in the earliest seeding phase. If you haven't seen it yet, that's expected. Here's what owners should do right now.

Rollout Status

2026.26.6.2 — Early Seeding

TeslaFi Total Installs 77
TeslaFi Installs Today 5
NATA Total Installs 2
Fleet Coverage <1%

Fleet coverage: <1% • Source: TeslaFi / NotATeslaApp

With fleet coverage effectively at zero and only 77 installs confirmed, Tesla is running a narrow seed — likely targeting specific hardware configurations or regions before a wider push. Release notes have not yet surfaced publicly via NATA, so the changelog for this version is still unknown.

Action Plan

Whether or not you've received a notification, here's the fastest way to check your status and prepare:

  1. Check your current version. On your touchscreen, go to Controls > Software. Note the version number displayed — if it already shows 2026.26.6.2, you're done.
  2. Look for a pending update. An orange clock icon on the car icon in the corner of your screen means an update is queued. Tap it to see the version number.
  3. Force a check (if impatient). Go to Controls > Software and tap Check for Updates. This doesn't always surface a queued update early, but it's worth trying.
  4. Make sure Wi-Fi is connected. Tesla strongly prefers delivering OTA updates over Wi-Fi. Connect your car to a home network and leave it parked — updates won't install while you're driving.
  5. Set your update preference. Under Controls > Software > Software Update Preference, select Advanced if you want updates as soon as they're available to you, rather than waiting for Tesla's scheduled push.
  6. Schedule or install immediately. When the prompt appears, you can choose to install now or schedule it for a specific time (useful if you want it done overnight before your morning commute).

Given the tiny install count right now, most owners will be waiting at least a few days before this version reaches them. Keep an eye on TeslaFi's tracker page for live rollout progress — once installs start climbing into the thousands, the broader wave is usually close behind. Check our all software updates coverage for changelog details as soon as they become available.
