Tesla 2026.14.6 Rolling Out: Security Fixes and What to Do

πŸ“Œ UPDATE β€” May 17, 2026

Tesla has bumped the Spring Update to 2026.14.6.6, now bundling FSD (Supervised) v14.3.3 β€” which Elon Musk called "a banger." Key additions confirmed in the release notes include Actually Smart Summon's max speed raised to 8 mph (13 km/h) β€” a 33% increase per Tesla AI's official account β€” plus enhanced FSD visualizations that now display miles since last intervention directly on-screen. The FSD intervention popup has also been updated: the old "Preference" and "Discomfort" categories are replaced with "Parking" and "Other" respectively. A new "Mad Max mode" message ("Increased attention required: Mad Max mode enabled") suggests attention monitoring requirements now vary by driving mode.

πŸ“Œ UPDATE β€” May 17, 2026

Tesla has begun rolling out software version 2026.14.6.6, a point release that bundles FSD (Supervised) V14.3.3 with the Spring Update β€” first spotted on a Cybertruck AWD in Arizona early this morning. Notably, Teslascope confirms every AI4-equipped vehicle is theoretically eligible for this build, subject to regional requirements, making it the broadest FSD rollout to date. A previously undocumented change has also surfaced: Actually Smart Summon's top speed has been bumped from 6 mph to 8 mph. πŸ”

πŸ“Œ UPDATE β€” May 16, 2026

Tesla's 2026.14.6 rollout has now reached the 6th and 7th vehicle batches, putting the update in the hands of approximately 54% of the fleet. The cumulative changelog across the 2026.14.x train is now clearer: 2026.14.1 introduced the new Self-Driving App [AI4] β€” a dedicated app for AI4-hardware vehicles to manage FSD subscriptions β€” followed by bug fixes in 2026.14.3, and the security improvements delivered in 2026.14.6. If you're on AI4 hardware and haven't seen the Self-Driving App appear yet, triggering a manual update check via Controls β†’ Software β†’ Check for Updates over Wi-Fi remains the fastest path.

πŸ“Œ UPDATE β€” May 16, 2026 πŸ”

Tesla's 2026.14.6 update contains an undocumented UI change affecting non-U.S. legacy Model 3 and Model Y owners: the rear light configuration displayed in the vehicle UI has been updated to show amber turn signal indicators and a larger brake light bar, accurately reflecting the regional hardware design differences found outside North America. This change was not mentioned in Tesla's official release notes. If you're in Europe, APAC, or another non-U.S. market running a legacy Model 3 or Y, check your light controls UI β€” you should now see the corrected regional representation after updating.

Tesla has begun a mass rollout of software update 2026.14.6 to HW3 and AI4 vehicles, and this one is moving fast. The update carries security improvements significant enough that Tesla is pushing downloads over cellular for some vehicles β€” a strong signal that these aren't cosmetic fixes. If you own a pre-2023 Tesla or an AI4 car still on an older build, this update is heading your way soon.

What's in 2026.14.6

The headline change is security improvements. Tesla doesn't publicly disclose the specifics of what vulnerabilities are being patched β€” that's standard practice for any responsible security release β€” but the cellular-push delivery method tells you everything you need to know about urgency. When Tesla bypasses the usual Wi-Fi queue and initiates downloads over cellular, it's treating the update as time-sensitive.

Beyond the security layer, 2026.14.6 also bundles in everything from the 2026.14.3 Spring Update. That means owners who skipped or haven't yet received 14.3 get a full package with this install. According to verified sources, the Spring Update features include:

  • Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v13.2.9
  • Automatic hotspot connection when driving starts
  • Contact photos displayed for incoming calls and in the Phone app
  • Apple Music playlist shuffle for libraries over 100 songs
  • YouTube Music 'Up Next' playlist view
  • Option to show or hide non-Tesla chargers in Navigation settings
  • Blind Spot Camera feed on the instrument panel (enable via Controls > Display > Automatic Blind Spot Camera)

The official release notes also document a Pet Mode enhancement β€” expanded to support dogs, cats, and other animals, with the pet's name displayed on screen for newer Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.

Who Gets It and When

The rollout targets HW3 vehicles (roughly 2017–2022 Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X) and AI4 vehicles. Teslascope confirmed their own 2018 Model 3 Performance received the update in the first wave. AI4 vehicles currently on 2026.2.9.10 are listed as next in line for the security fixes.

How to Get the Update Now

Given the security nature of this release, don't wait for the notification to come to you. Here's how to check and accelerate the install:

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi at home. Even though some vehicles are receiving this over cellular, a strong Wi-Fi connection remains the fastest and most reliable delivery method.
  2. Check for the update manually. On your touchscreen, go to Controls > Software. If an update is available, you'll see it here. Tap 'Install Now' rather than scheduling for later.
  3. Don't delay the install. Security patches are the one category where postponing isn't worth it. Schedule it for the next time the car is parked and plugged in if you can't do it immediately.
  4. Verify the version after install. Go to Controls > Software and confirm the version reads 2026.14.6. If you're on a different 2026.14.x build, check again in a day or two β€” rollouts are staged.
  5. Check your new Blind Spot Camera setting. Once updated, navigate to Controls > Display > Automatic Blind Spot Camera to enable the instrument panel feed if you want it active.

For AI4 owners still on 2026.2.9.10, the security fixes are confirmed to be coming shortly. Keep Wi-Fi connected and check your software screen over the next 24–48 hours. The fact that Tesla is pushing this at scale β€” including over cellular β€” makes it one of the more consequential patch releases of the year so far. Install it promptly.
