Tesla didn't mention this in their release notes, but code buried inside Tesla App v4.60.5 points to a feature owners have wanted for a while: the ability to toggle Aero wheel covers on or off directly from the app β and have that preference sync to the car itself.
The discovery comes from an analysis of hidden strings in the latest app build. According to @TeslaNewswire, the code references a 3D vehicle visualizer that will let owners switch Aero covers on or off visually, with the configuration able to sync from Tesla's backend down to the vehicle β a strong hint that an in-car counterpart to this setting is also in development.
The backend-to-vehicle sync detail is the more interesting signal here. It suggests Tesla isn't just building a cosmetic visualizer β they're wiring up a preference layer that the car can read. That would make Aero cover management a proper in-car setting rather than a manual physical task, which is how it works today. Whether that eventually means software-controlled covers or simply a smarter way to track and display the current state remains to be seen.
App code discoveries like this typically precede a live feature by weeks to a few months, so don't expect this in your next update. But the groundwork is clearly being laid. For the many Model 3 and Model Y owners who swap Aero covers seasonally for range or aesthetics, a native toggle would be a genuinely useful addition to an otherwise manual process.
