Android Tesla owners have been waiting a long time for this one. Tesla App version 4.58.0, which began rolling out on June 16, 2026, contains code for a "Live Updates" feature that brings real-time Supercharging status directly to your lock screen — no app-opening required. Tesla hasn't mentioned it in any official release notes, but it's been spotted in the wild and the functionality is confirmed in the app's code.

What exactly is this feature?
It's Tesla's Android equivalent of the Live Activities feature that iOS users have had since Tesla App 4.45.0 in May 2025. During a Supercharging session, a persistent notification appears on your Android lock screen or status bar showing real-time charging data — without you ever having to unlock your phone and open the app. Think of it as a live dashboard that follows you wherever your phone screen is visible.
What information does it actually show?
According to reports from early testers and code analysis, the live update display includes battery state of charge, current power draw in kW, miles of range added per hour, total energy added in kWh, estimated time remaining for a full charge, estimated Supercharger fees, and estimated cost so far. That's essentially everything you'd want to know mid-session, surfaced without a single tap.
Is it live for everyone on 4.58.0 right now?
Not yet. The code is present in version 4.58.0, but the feature appears to be gated server-side and is not universally active for all users as of June 28. Tesla is expected to enable it broadly in the coming days or weeks. If you're on 4.58.0 and don't see it yet, that's why — it's a rollout, not an instant flip.
Does my Android version matter?
Yes. The Android implementation is tied to Android 16's native "Live Updates" capability, which is the platform-level feature that allows persistent, real-time lock screen notifications from apps. If you're running an older Android version, you may not be able to use this feature even once Tesla fully enables it server-side.
What else does this Live Updates system cover beyond Supercharging?
Based on what's been found in the app code, the Live Updates framework isn't limited to charging sessions. It also appears to support status updates for Pet Mode (so you can monitor cabin temperature from your lock screen), Tesla service appointment updates, and Robotaxi ride tracking. Supercharging is just the first — and most immediately useful — use case for most owners.
Why didn't Tesla announce this?
That's the undocumented part. Tesla's release notes for version 4.58.0 make no mention of Live Updates. It was first spotted by the community digging through the app, not via any official changelog. This isn't unusual for Tesla — features frequently land in app code before they're formally announced, and server-side activation means Tesla controls exactly when the switch gets flipped. The omission from release notes likely reflects the fact that it isn't fully live yet for the general user base.
iOS owners have had this convenience for over a year. Once Tesla activates it fully on Android, it closes a meaningful gap between the two platforms — and makes those long Supercharging stops a little less dependent on constantly checking your phone.
