The Netherlands holds particular significance here: it was the first country in Europe to receive regulatory approval for FSD (Supervised), with Dutch vehicle authority RDW greenlighting the system on April 10, 2026. The subscription launched almost immediately after. The rapid move to subscription-only — barely five weeks after launch — follows Tesla's established global playbook of phasing out perpetual licenses as FSD matures into a recurring revenue stream.
The math is straightforward for owners weighing the options: at €99/month, the subscription breaks even with the one-time purchase in roughly 76 months, or about six and a half years. For anyone planning to keep their current Tesla long-term and use FSD regularly, the outright purchase still makes financial sense before the deadline. For those uncertain about FSD's utility in their daily driving, the subscription offers a lower-commitment entry point — just at a potentially higher lifetime cost.
