Tesla may be about to expand the Model Y lineup in North America. Teslascope flagged a cryptic post from Tesla's official account that includes the word "long" alongside a dog's collar tag — and their read is that the Model Y L (Long Wheelbase) could be launching as early as this weekend.

The teaser image shared by Tesla features a collar tag — a nod to the "Juniper" refresh's dog-friendly framing — with the word "long" prominently placed. Teslascope's interpretation: Tesla is signaling the arrival of a stretched Model Y variant for the North American market.

It's worth noting that the Model Y L is a distinct vehicle from the existing Long Range (now rebranded as Premium) trim — it's a physically longer, long-wheelbase version of the Model Y, not just a battery upgrade. According to previous reports, the U.S. variant is expected to be built at Gigafactory Texas, with internal timelines pointing to an August or September 2026 debut. A weekend announcement would push that timeline significantly earlier than anticipated.
Tesla has not issued any official confirmation. The "this weekend" timing from Teslascope is speculative, based on reading the teaser. But given Tesla's history of cryptic pre-launch hints, it's not a stretch to take the signal seriously. If the Model Y L does open for orders in North America in the coming days, it would represent a meaningful expansion of the lineup — offering more interior space for families who've been waiting for a larger Model Y without stepping up to the Model X.
