Tesla's humanoid robot is on the clock. On June 11, Tesla North America announced that Optimus is working a shift at the Tesla Diner in Hollywood, California — and there's even a special menu item tied to the appearance that's only available while the robot is on-site.

The tweet from @tesla_na points Optimus to the Diner's upper level — the Skypad — a rooftop area with city views and large LED screens. A "special vessel" (read: a limited drink or food item) is only available when Optimus is actively working the floor up there, making the robot's presence a genuine draw rather than a static display.
This is far from Optimus's first shift at the Diner. When the Hollywood location opened in July 2025, a Gen 2 unit nicknamed "Poptimus" was serving popcorn to guests. By March 2026, a black Optimus unit had graduated to autonomously delivering food directly to cars at the Supercharger stalls — a meaningful jump from novelty act to functional food runner. The June appearance marks the latest chapter in what has become a slow, deliberate expansion of Optimus's real-world duties at a public venue.
The timing matters. Tesla began mass production of the Gen 3 Optimus at its Fremont factory in January 2026, targeting between 50,000 and 100,000 units this year. Each public appearance at the Diner doubles as a live stress test in an unpredictable, customer-facing environment — exactly the kind of unscripted scenario that factory floor deployment can't replicate. If you're in the Los Angeles area today, the Diner is at Santa Monica Boulevard and it's open 24/7.
