If you have driven a 2018-2023 Model 3 and a 2024 Highland back-to-back, the rear bumper looks similar at a glance — but the load-edge geometry has changed in ways that matter for an aftermarket trunk-sill protector. The Highland's painted rear bumper apron now sits at a slightly different vertical angle relative to the trunk floor, the body-line crease runs further toward the wheel arch, and the load lip itself is approximately 3-4mm thinner. We measured all three changes when we 3D-scanned a delivery-fresh Highland in February 2024, and re-measured a second car in late 2024 to confirm Tesla had not silently revised the bumper between production runs.
The practical consequence: a 2018-2023 bumper guard doesn't sit flush. It either rocks on the new crease or leaves a 2mm gap at the inner edge — exactly where loose dirt and grit migrate during loading. Our Highland-specific mold is a brand-new tool. We are not retro-fitting an old SKU.
Material is TPE — thermoplastic elastomer — not the cheaper PVC that most no-brand listings use. The difference matters because PVC stiffens when temperatures drop below 40°F and starts to crack along stress lines after roughly 18 months. TPE retains flex from -40°F to 158°F, which is why the auto industry uses it for OEM weatherstripping. A bumper guard that goes brittle in winter is worse than no guard at all — it shatters into the trunk floor and scuffs the very paint it was supposed to protect.
Fitment notes: This SKU fits Highland model years 2024, 2025, and 2026 (the Highland badge body, with light bar and amber turn signals integrated into the headlight). It does not fit the 2018-2023 Legacy Model 3 — for that car, see our Legacy Model 3 collection. Installation: No drilling, no adhesive curing, no special tools. Clean the load lip with isopropyl alcohol, peel the 3M VHB liner, align with the body crease, and press for 30 seconds along the full length. Full bond strength develops over 24 hours — avoid heavy loading during that window. Daniel Zhang from our test lab walks through the install on a fresh Highland in our Highland accessories roundup.
What this guard does NOT do: It is not a complete rear bumper protector — it covers the trunk-load lip only. For full bumper edge protection (including the corners), you would also want a corner protector film, which we do not yet make for the Highland. We will not list a product we have not validated on a real car.

This is an amazing protective piece that all Model 3 2024 or newer models need. It fits over the carpet-covered piece where things hit each time you put something heavy in the trunk. I would recommend this to everyone. It not only protects, but it also looks great as well.
Installed bumper protector and it looks like it was from factory. Does take sometime to install as guard comes folded so you need a day or two to get it flat. Then you need about 20-30 minutes to install Velcro strips. Adhesive is strong but it does take some finesse to remove liner. Follow directions to install for OEM look.
Nicely protects the trunk when loading and unloading heavier things. It took maybe 5-10 minutes to install and after it was installed you would not know it's aftermarket.It uses a velcro type material to stay in place.Good product, does a great job protecting our new car.
This fit my 2024 Model 3 perfectly. Quick and easy to install and looks OEM. The lone small complaint is the area where the trunk latches- it doesn't hold it SUPER snug however - my trunk opens and closes fine without any issues so its more cosmetic than anything.

A nice little protector for when you’re hauling small items. Really easy to instal with the instructions they included. Didn’t have an issue with the door closing. Which I kind of feared. Also looks like it’s part of the car. Highly recommend.
I bought this for my 2024 Tesla Model 3 as I don't like the fuzzy carpet in this rear part of the trunk since it collects dirt and will wear out quickly especially if you load and unload things like luggage often. This cover adds nice protection and is very similar to what came from the factory of my old car. The install is pretty simple but make sure you test it before installing the velcro because if you change your mind and want to remove it, it will leave behind marks on the fuzzy carpet. At first I wasn't happy with the way my trunk was shutting and thought it was because it wasn't latching well. I added more velcro to keep it down and not sure it helped but seems to be fine. Overall I am happy with it and would recommend it to others.
This should have been something Tesla included from the factory. This covers the carpeted area at the threshold of the trunk so that if you are loading bulkier/heavier items, they don't tear up the carpet. This has a pliable, almost rubber-like texture and it's fairly thick. It should provide great protection for this area.This connects to the trunk with velcro that grabs onto the carpet material lining the area. It's not something you want to remove and reinstall regularly as it would probably beat up the carpet (and it's not intended for that). The instructions were clear on how to install it and where to put the velcro. There's included prep wipes, which I thought were alcohol, but are obviously some kind of adhesive prep - it smells a bit like rubber cement. Once that dried, I trimmed the velcro to the different sizes needed and attached it. I let it stand a bit and after a few minutes, the velcro was well adhered in place.Installing it was pretty straightforward. You pull your lower trunk lid since this slips down behind it. I started at the top and pressed the form-fitted top in place, then pushed the velcro-backed flat side against the carpet. The last thing was to pull the weather stripping up over the lip to hold it in place. The result is a perfect factory look - as you can see in the pictures (forgive the Crocs). With the lower trunk lid in place, it's perfect. The trunk closes and opens with no issue.As I said at the beginning, this should have been something Tesla included from the factory. It finishes off the trunk entry nicely and provides a good bumper guard for loading/unloading.
And looks great with my mats! I'm very happy with it. Material feels nice and pleasantly surprised it didn't have any strong manufacturing smell to it. Was a breeze to setup with very clear instructions. Even the original box it's packed in was of high quality lol
This was a one piece design made of a soft TPE material. It had a long skirt that extended down into the sub-trunk shelf lip. The velcro that one attaches helps secure it in place along with the trunk gasket. Installation was easy compared to the other one I tried and reviewed because of the fore mentioned features and not being made of a rigid ABS plastic. The other one I tried did not extend into the sub-trunk and being thicker produced a lip that caught on the sub-trunk lid when one tried to open it. It also looks better. I would recommend this one over the other and after installation, it looks good, like it was OEM. It came well packaged and with clear instructions.
Quality material. One piece, easy install with clear easy to follow instructions. Looks great with the 3D Mats cargo mat. Very happy with this rear bumper guard from Basenor. The only issue I encountered was the plastic piece Tesla provides on the top latch of the trunk came off the first time I opened the trunk. Not sure if that’s going to be an issue going forward or not.
The Basenor rear bumper guard provides extra protection for the trunk liner. easy to install and with the included tape, it stays in place. took about 5 minutes to install.
It feels and looks like a high quality, OEM addition. It is also very easy to install. There are indentations where you place the velcro tape. After install, you can still access the sub-trunk. I love how this protects my trunk from skis and suitcases.

I had ordered and returned a similar trunk protector made of ABS because I foresaw structural damage to the trunk or its locking mechanism if it were to slide out of place. TPE, on the other hand, is soft and can more like sustain the motorized closing of the trunk.The fit after finally installing it was excellent; I had some worries initially as it came in a box half its size. The protector was folded in half and when unfurled, it seemed misshapened.Finally, there was little or no odor unless you pressed your face against it.
This trunk area protection cover fits very nicely around the trunk area. It stays in place with Velcro and it will not move. They give you a roll of the Velcro to stick on the back of the mat yourself. I like that it extends below to the bottom of your trunk, so storing stuff below the top mat area will be protected as well. It looks great with nice design and installation was super easy. Highly recommended from a good company!
After loading a few large/heavy boxes in my brand new Model 3 and seeing that it immediately matted down and left residue on the carpeting around the trunk entry, this was a priority accessory.I was a little surprised that the buyer needs to affix the velcro strips to the TPE part, but its a very simple thing to complete. Installation is as easy as you'd expect. It's nice that the protector extends below the subtrunk lid so everything stays tight and tidy.Looks like a factory part, happy to have it on my car!
This is a must-have accessory for people that use their trunk ... yeah, everyone. It's usually standard on most cars of this price range, but I can see that Tesla has been looking for ways to cut costs. And trim pieces were some of the items eliminated. If you plan to keep your car for a while, and like to keep areas from getting more wear than usual, this should be a must-have. I like the design, including the more wrap-around of TPE for the door latch. I have purchased other Basenor products. However, unlike other mfg designs, it's a little odd that they want you to put on the Velcro yourself. It makes it look like it was an oversight, and added them after the fact because it became an issue without them, and to be competitive with other designs. For that, I will probably go with another mfg's product, that essentially offers the same function as this one (i.e., sturdy/strong protective material choice, and longer piece that goes below the lower trunk compartment lid - and to a natural trim break line). But the other one was slightly cheaper and had strong Velcro strips pre-installed by the mfg and was securely glued down and won't lift off. I will probably be returning this one for a refund.
At first, this protector was preventing the powered trunk to close properly. After carefully re-installing it and leaving the trunk closed for 2 days, it settled into place well and is now working properly. You will need to strategically place the 3M tape with hook & loop closure to ensure the mat stays in place even when loading and unloading the trunk (as sliding items in/out can easily dislodge the bumper protector otherwise). Once installed properly however, this does work quite well and should protect your investment for years to come.
