Dirty Tesla (@DirtyTesLa), who shared the incident, was clear that the problem isn't with the bystander who filmed it, but with the vehicle's decision-making itself.
The core issue, as @DirtyTesLa frames it: the Cybercab should have pulled over to the side of the road, not halted in a travel lane. Had it done so, the stop would have been unremarkable. Instead, it created a road hazard and a clip that's now circulating online. He also notes he has footage of a second Cybercab doing the same thing, which he plans to post once off his current flight.
This is the kind of edge-case behavior that matters most during early commercial robotaxi deployment. Pulling over when stopping — whether due to a disengagement, an obstacle, or a software pause — is a fundamental safety expectation for any autonomous vehicle operating in mixed traffic.
