How does the auto-leveling suspension actually work?
The Cybertruck uses an adaptive air suspension system — standard across all variants, including the Single Motor, Dual Motor, and Tri-Motor Cyberbeast — that continuously monitors and adjusts each corner of the vehicle independently. When you park on uneven ground, the system measures the tilt and automatically pumps or releases air from each air spring until the cabin floor is level. The full leveling cycle takes roughly 30 to 60 seconds to complete.
How do you activate it?
The primary way to trigger auto-leveling for camping is through Cybertent Mode, which arrived via an over-the-air software update in April 2024. You access it through the vehicle's touchscreen. Once activated, the truck handles the leveling automatically — no manual adjustment needed. Owners can also manually control ride height through the touchscreen or the Tesla mobile app outside of Cybertent Mode.
What else does Cybertent Mode do beyond leveling?
Leveling is just the starting point. When Cybertent Mode is active, the Cybertruck also automatically switches on interior and truck bed lighting, keeps climate control (heating or AC) running, and ensures the 120V and 240V power outlets stay active throughout the night. It's a full camp-ready state triggered by a single menu selection.
How uneven of terrain can it actually handle?
The suspension offers up to 12 inches of total travel and a maximum ground clearance of 17.4 inches. That's enough to compensate for genuinely uneven campsites — sloped gravel, rocky pullouts, angled forest service roads — not just minor dips in a paved parking lot. In practice, it eliminates the need to hunt for a flat spot before settling in for the night.
Does it work with the optional CyberTent accessory?
Yes. The optional CyberTent (priced at $2,975) is designed to integrate directly with the Cybertruck's air suspension and HVAC system. The tent attaches to the truck bed and relies on the same Cybertent Mode to maintain a level sleeping platform and supply climate-controlled air — so the suspension leveling isn't just a standalone perk, it's the foundation the entire camping setup is built on.
