Tesla has quietly expanded the Model Y color lineup in Europe with a new shade called Coastal Blue — a deeper metallic mid-tone blue available exclusively on the base Rear-Wheel Drive variant. It's a meaningful addition for European buyers who want something beyond the standard white or black but aren't stepping up to a performance trim.

According to verified European configurators, Coastal Blue is priced as a €1,300 upgrade on the base Model Y. The color is produced at Gigafactory Berlin, which houses one of Tesla's most advanced paint facilities. It sits in a distinct visual position within Tesla's European blue palette: darker than the lighter 'Frost Blue' seen on performance variants in some markets, but noticeably lighter than the 'Marine Blue' reserved for premium and performance Model Y trims in Europe. In other words, it fills a gap that entry-level buyers didn't previously have access to.
The color was first made available around June 5, 2026, though it's only now drawing wider attention. For now, Coastal Blue remains a Europe-only option with no confirmed plans to extend it to other markets or to higher Model Y trims. Whether Tesla eventually rolls it out more broadly — or keeps it as a regional differentiator tied to the Berlin paint shop — remains to be seen.
