Tesla FSD Lite Update Is Frustrating Owners — Here's Why

A recent minor update to Tesla's Full Self-Driving software is generating significant backlash from owners, with complaints surfacing at the top of the largest Tesla community on Reddit. The core issues: the system is reportedly making last-minute freeway exit decisions and activating turn signals at the wrong moment — both the kind of jerky, unpredictable behavior that erodes trust in autonomous driving.

Electrek editor Fred Lambert flagged the Reddit thread, which describes the experience in blunt terms: the update is causing FSD to wait until 0.1–0.3 miles before an exit to make its decision — down from what users describe as a more comfortable 0.8–0.9 mile window — and shifting the blinker on while the car is already alongside other vehicles. One user summed it up as being "officially done" with FSD entirely.

Minor or "lite" updates between major FSD versions are meant to smooth rough edges, not introduce new ones. When a small patch visibly degrades the driving experience, it tends to generate disproportionate frustration — owners who had settled into a workflow with the previous behavior now have to re-learn when to intervene. Tesla has not publicly commented on the complaints at the time of publication.
