Tesla's Giga Berlin is quietly upgrading how it moves materials around the factory floor. The plant is adding 14 light-duty electric trucks from Chinese manufacturer JonwayEV to its internal logistics fleet — a small but telling sign of how seriously the facility takes electrifying every link in its production chain.

The vehicles are built on JonwayEV's IONAxs platform — a compact, purpose-built electric workhorse designed specifically for intralogistics and material flow inside industrial facilities. Each truck can carry up to 500 kg and tops out at 70 km/h, making them well-suited for the kind of repetitive, short-haul runs that keep a gigafactory humming. According to JonwayEV's published specs, the IONAxs runs on either an 11.52 kWh or a 23 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of 100+ km or 200+ km respectively, with a 20 kW peak motor. The platform has received EU homologation and is available in multiple body configurations including flatbed, box truck, and tipper variants.
The move fits a broader pattern at Tesla's European hub. Giga Berlin has consistently looked to reduce its operational carbon footprint beyond just the vehicles it produces — electrifying internal logistics is a logical next step. JonwayEV, assembled in Xuzhou, China, has been expanding its European footprint with EU-certified variants of the IONAxs, and landing a fleet contract with one of the continent's most high-profile factories is a meaningful reference win for the brand.

Fourteen trucks won't make headlines on their own, but they reflect a factory-floor philosophy that's easy to overlook: the same company building the world's best-selling electric cars is also methodically replacing every diesel forklift and gas-powered utility vehicle inside its own walls. It's the kind of operational detail that rarely surfaces in earnings calls but says a lot about how Tesla runs its manufacturing sites.
