Tesla has officially begun delivering the Model Y L in India as of June 15, 2026, marking the company's first real foothold in one of the world's largest and fastest-growing automotive markets. The long-wheelbase, three-row SUV arrives with a starting price of ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and a spec sheet that positions it squarely against established premium SUVs in the Indian market.

What Tesla Is Selling
The Model Y L is not simply a stretched version of the familiar five-seat Model Y — it's a purpose-built configuration for markets where three-row family vehicles are in high demand. The 2+2+2 seating layout includes second-row captain seats, and the third row comes with power recline, heated seats, and vented climate control — a notable inclusion at this price point.
The vehicle is available exclusively in dual-motor All-Wheel Drive, producing a 0–100 km/h time of 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h. WLTP-rated range sits at 681 km, and a 250 kW fast charger can recover up to 288 km of range in 15 minutes. Cargo capacity reaches 2,539 litres with all rows folded.
On the tech side, the cabin features a 16-inch central touchscreen and a dedicated 8-inch rear-passenger display — a configuration Tesla has been rolling out across its refreshed lineup. A 19-speaker audio system, acoustic glass, adaptive suspension with electronic continuously variable damping, and new 19-inch Machina 2.0 wheels round out the package. Nine airbags are standard.

How Tesla Is Selling It
Tesla is going direct-to-consumer in India, bypassing the traditional dealership network entirely. Experience Centers are currently open in Mumbai (BKC), Delhi (Aerocity), and Gurugram (Sector-48). Financing is available with monthly payments starting at ₹49,990, based on a minimum down payment of ₹6,50,000 over a seven-year tenure at 8.5% APR.
The Model Y L was formally launched in India in April 2026, with the roughly two-month gap between launch and first deliveries now closed. For a market where premium three-row SUVs command strong demand — and where Tesla had no physical presence until recently — today's first deliveries represent a meaningful inflection point rather than just a symbolic one.
