Cybertruck Is the Most American-Made Full-Size Pickup

The Tesla Cybertruck carries 65% US/Canada parts content, compared to 45% for the Ford F-150 — a 20-point gap that makes the Cybertruck the most American-made full-size pickup truck currently on sale. The F-150's final assembly happens on US soil, but the majority of its components are sourced from outside North America.

The figures come from American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA) data, which requires automakers to disclose the percentage of parts content sourced from the US and Canada. Assembly location and parts origin are tracked separately under this framework, which is why a truck built in America can still score lower than one might expect on domestic content.

Zoom out and the Cybertruck's North American footprint is even broader: approximately 90% of its parts are sourced from within North America, with the remaining 25% coming from Mexico. Every major powertrain assembly — electric motor, gearbox, battery pack, and onboard charger — is completed at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The 2025 Kogod Made in America Auto Index ranked the Cybertruck third overall (tied with the Model S), reflecting that deep domestic supply chain. One notable caveat: the Cybertruck is excluded from the 2026 Cars.com American-Made Index because its curb weight exceeds the 8,500-pound threshold that triggers more detailed reporting requirements under that index's methodology.

For Cybertruck owners, the domestic content story has become more commercially relevant in 2026 as tariff policy has drawn renewed attention to where vehicles and their components actually originate. A 20-point lead over the segment's best-selling nameplate is a meaningful differentiator — and one that is baked into the supply chain rather than dependent on where the final bolt is tightened.
