The official Cybertruck account is putting a spotlight on one of the truck's most practical selling points: the Vault bed and its motorized tonneau cover. While the feature isn't new, the reminder is well-timed for anyone still weighing how much real-world utility the Cybertruck actually delivers.

The Vault measures 72.9 inches long with the tailgate up — extending to roughly 96 inches with it down — and 51 inches wide at the floor. Depth tapers from 28.66 inches near the cab to 19.89 inches at the tailgate, yielding a total volume of 67 cubic feet (1,900 liters). That's enough to lay a standard 4x8-foot sheet of plywood flat with the tailgate lowered.
The motorized tonneau cover is standard on AWD and Cyberbeast trims. It's built from the same 30X cold-rolled stainless steel as the truck's exoskeleton — 29 individual extruded slats that roll into a compartment at the front of the bed. The cover holds up to 300 lbs on its surface, stops automatically if it detects an obstacle while closing, and locks itself whenever Walk-Away Door Lock is active. One caveat worth knowing: the bed isn't fully waterproof, so anything truly water-sensitive is better off inside the cabin.
For owners who use their Cybertruck as a genuine work or adventure vehicle, these specs put the Vault in a different class from most traditional truck beds — both in volume and in the level of security the powered cover provides.
