The official Cybertruck account just spotlighted one of the truck's most cleverly named features: the Smuggler's Bay, a sealed storage compartment built directly beneath the bed floor. What makes it more than just a hidden cubby? A drain plug — meaning you can pack it with ice and use it as a full-on cooler without ever leaving the truck bed.

Tesla officially refers to it as the "Under Bed Compartment" in the owner's manual, but Smuggler's Bay is the name that stuck. The tub holds 3.4 cubic feet of storage, sits beneath a lid supported by gas struts, and seals via a rubber gasket that makes it highly water-resistant — though not rated fully waterproof if the lid isn't properly latched. To drain melted ice, owners simply turn the plug counter-clockwise and pull it up.
It's worth noting that availability of the compartment can vary by configuration, region, and build date — so if you haven't found yours yet, check under the bed floor before assuming it's missing. There's currently no factory lock for the bay, but the latching lid keeps it reasonably secure during everyday use. For Cybertruck owners heading into summer, this is one feature worth actually using rather than leaving empty.
