Tesla has quietly refreshed its blue paint lineup for Model 3 and Model Y in the U.S., introducing two new shades while retiring a longtime fan favorite. Marine Blue is now available on Premium trims, Frost Blue lands on Performance trims, and Deep Blue Metallic has been discontinued — all effective as of May 8, 2026.

The split is deliberate: Marine Blue is priced at $1,000 and tied to the Premium variant of both models, while Frost Blue is the Performance-exclusive option. It's a cleaner color hierarchy than Tesla has historically offered — one blue per trim level, no overlap. Deep Blue Metallic, which had already been phased out in Europe in favor of Marine Blue, is now gone from the U.S. configurator as well.

For owners who had Deep Blue Metallic on their shortlist, the window has closed. Anyone currently configuring a new Model 3 or Model Y will now choose between Marine Blue (Premium) or Frost Blue (Performance) — there's no longer a single blue option shared across trims. If you're mid-configuration, it's worth pulling up the current configurator to see both shades rendered on your chosen trim before placing an order.

Marine Blue had previously been a European-market exclusive when it debuted at Gigafactory Berlin in late 2025, so its U.S. arrival closes a gap that American buyers had been vocal about. Whether Frost Blue eventually expands beyond Performance trims — or whether either color makes it to Model S, Model X, or Cybertruck — hasn't been announced.
