Tesla's Robotaxi service may be on the verge of a significant operational expansion in Texas. Reports from Tesla sales representatives and employees indicate that freeway access β and with it, meaningfully larger geofences β could be coming soon to Houston, Austin, and Dallas.
The claims come from two separate internal sources, according to The Tesla Newswire: a sales rep who reportedly mentioned freeway access arriving soon, and a second Tesla employee who corroborated that a geofence expansion is in the works. Context matters here. The Austin service launched in June 2025 and has been operating in a constrained geofence β city streets only, no freeway segments.
