Tesla Semi Appears on European Websites Ahead of 2027 Launch

Tesla's electric semi-truck has quietly appeared on several European Tesla websites — including the official UK site — marking a concrete step toward the company's planned 2027 continental launch. Only the Standard Range trim is listed so far, giving European fleet operators their first official look at the specs they'll be working with.

What's Listed and What It Means

The Standard Range variant carries a quoted range of approximately 550 km and an energy consumption figure of 1.0 kWh per kilometer. For context, that efficiency figure is notably strong for a Class 8-equivalent truck — European logistics operators running regional distribution routes will find the range viable for a significant share of daily operations without mid-route charging.

According to background research, the European-spec Standard Range Semi also carries a gross combination weight rating of 40 tonnes — the standard European limit for articulated trucks — with a curb weight of 9,100 kg. The powertrain features three independent motors on the rear axles delivering up to 800 kW of drive power. Fast charging is handled via MCS (Megawatt Charging System) at a peak rate of 1.2 MW, with Tesla claiming up to 60% range recovery in 30 minutes. An ePTO (Electric Power Take-Off) output of up to 25 kW is also included, which matters for refrigerated trailer operators.

Timeline: 2027 at the Earliest

The appearance on European websites doesn't mean deliveries are imminent. Semi Program Director Dan Priestley confirmed in May 2026 that Tesla plans to begin taking the Semi to Europe in 2027. Elon Musk had previously described a European arrival as "hopefully next year" — consistent with that 2027 target.

Volume production of the Tesla Semi only officially began on April 29, 2026, at a new dedicated facility adjacent to Gigafactory Nevada. That plant is planned to eventually produce 50,000 Semis annually, but ramping a new manufacturing line to meaningful volume takes time. European deliveries in 2027 are realistic only if the Nevada ramp proceeds on schedule and right-hand-drive or European-homologation variants are validated in parallel.

Pricing and Pre-Orders

No updated European pricing has been published alongside the new listings. In the US, the Standard Range is priced at $250,000 and the Long Range at $290,000. European pricing will almost certainly differ once import duties, VAT, and local market adjustments are factored in. Historically, UK and European customers were able to place early reservations with an initial deposit, but there's no active reservation program confirmed at this time.

The Long Range variant — which offers roughly 800 km of range in US specs — is conspicuously absent from the European listings for now. Whether that trim arrives simultaneously with the Standard Range in 2027 or follows later hasn't been confirmed.

For European fleet managers who've been watching the Semi from the sidelines, the website listing is a signal worth noting — not a buying trigger yet, but a clear indication that Tesla is treating the European truck market as a near-term priority rather than a distant afterthought.
